First Showcenter 200 impressions - 2005/07/16 00:21
My first impression of the Showcenter 200:
Installation is (still) terrible, but no different from the old showcenter. After I updated the firmware I disabled the resource eating services.
The first thing I noticed is the remote. A new layout but more important: it works! My old remote did not respond very well, but this one is perfect.
Overall the performances while browsing feels a little better, the device probably has a faster chip.
My Dolby downmix activation for the old showcenter works for the new device too  . Probably because I did not uninstall my previous Pinnacle Showcenter software installation (I got an error during uninstall, so I just tried installing the new version over the old version) and the new version uses the old serial number.
So should throw away the old showcenter and buy the 200? If you don't need the DRM (probably not) and you don't want to play .wmv (probably not) it is a lot of money for a fast remote.
